{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2024,8,12]],"date-time":"2024-08-12T04:30:28Z","timestamp":1723437028665},"reference-count":72,"publisher":"Human Kinetics","issue":"12","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2020,12,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:p><jats:bold>Background<\/jats:bold>: To explore the associations between birth weight and body mass index (BMI) from 6\u00a0months to 6\u00a0years of age, with cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), physical activity, and sedentary time in adolescence. <jats:bold>Methods<\/jats:bold>: Retrospective school-based study with 539 adolescents (292 girls), mean age of 13.94 (1.62)\u00a0years. Anthropometric data from birth up to 6\u00a0years were extracted from individual child health booklets. CRF was estimated by 20-m shuttle run test. Physical activity and sedentary time were assessed with accelerometers. <jats:bold>Results<\/jats:bold>: Birth weight was not associated with any outcome measured in adolescence. From the age of 6\u00a0months onwards in girls, and from 3\u00a0years in boys, BMI associated inversely with CRF in adolescence. In girls, BMI (at 12\u00a0mo and at 3\u00a0y of age) associated positively with sedentary time in adolescence, but not with physical activity.
