A synthetic peptide modeled after the putative regulatory phosphorylation site in murine p42\n            <jats:sup>\n              <jats:italic>mapk<\/jats:italic>\n            <\/jats:sup>\n            (Tyr\n            <jats:sup>185<\/jats:sup>\n            ) was phosphorylated by p56\n            <jats:sup>\n              <jats:italic>lck<\/jats:italic>\n            <\/jats:sup>\n            with a similar V\n            <jats:sub>max<\/jats:sub>\n            , but a fivefold lower Michaelis constant (Km) than a peptide containing the Tyr\n            <jats:sup>394<\/jats:sup>\n            autophosphorylation site from p56\n            <jats:sup>\n              <jats:italic>lck<\/jats:italic>\n            <\/jats:sup>\n            .
