Hence, double positive (DP) thymocytes expressing CD4 and CD8 coreceptors are usually viewed simply as progenitors of CD4\n                    <jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup>\n                    and CD8\n                    <jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup>\n                    \u03b1\u03b2 T cells. Instead we report that DP cells regulate the differentiation of early thymocyte progenitors and \u03b3\u03b4 cells, by a mechanism dependent on the transcription factor RORgt, and the lymphotoxin (LT) \u03b2 receptor (LT\u03b2R).
