Although primaquine derivatives had modest activity, chloroquine conjugates exhibited potent activity against both promastigotes (50% inhibitory concentration [IC\n            <jats:sub>50<\/jats:sub>\n            ] = 2.6 to 21.8 \u03bcM) and intramacrophagic amastigotes (IC\n            <jats:sub>50<\/jats:sub>\n            = 1.2 to 9.3 \u03bcM) of\n            <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"genus-species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">Leishmania infantum<\/jats:named-content>\n            .
