Our reviewer finds several aspects in this book not similarly covered in other books and recommends that the reader of the review fill a bit of open bookshelf space with it.
The section continues with three classical mathematical topics. David Simpson reviews the book on Scaling Laws in Dynamical Systems, by E. D. Leonel, and mentions several useful aspects in it. The book Cooperative Control of Multi-agent Systems: An Optimal and Robust Perspective, by Jianan Wang, Chunyan Wang, Ming Xin, Zhengtao Ding, and Jiayuan Shan, is reviewed by Marco Caponigro. He recommends this book to all readers with a background in control theory. Stochastic modeling aspects are discussed in the book Stochastic Partial Differential Equations: An Introduction, by Étienne Pardoux. Its reviewer, Kristin Kirchner, praises in particular its approach based on the variational formulation.
The section is concluded by two books in the data science realm. Aretha Teckentrup reviews the book Mathematical Foundations for Data Analysis, by Jeff Phillips, and warns the strongly mathematically oriented reader of episodically increased heart rate because some formulations may lack the mathematical rigor that a mathematician is used to. The last book in our section is the second edition of Transformers for Natural Language Processing, by Denis Rothman. It is very positively reviewed by Christopher West, who remarks that this field is evolving so fast that this now only one-year-old book is already outdated, and thus a third edition is in need.
[[2023,2,9
["Book Reviews
[[2023,2,9
SIAM Review
[[2026,8,20
[[2023,2
[[2023,2
10.1137/23N97565X
["0036-1445","1095-7200
[[2023,2]]}}}
