Appl."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1996,7]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>For a piecewise affine function $f:R^n \\to R^m $, the recession function is defined by\\[ f^\\infty ( x ) : =\\lim\\limits_{\\lambda \\to \\infty } \\frac{f ( \\lambda x )}{\\lambda }. \\] In this paper, we study the zero set and error bound properties of f via $f^\\infty $. We show, for example, that f has a zero when $f^\\infty $ has a unique zero (at the origin) with a nonvanishing index.
