Microbiol."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1975,10,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:p> An Escherichia coli K12 mutant resistant to colicin A-CA31 apparently through loss of its receptor sites has been isolated and partially characterized. Resistance to colicin A was accompanied with a decreased sensitivity to colicins L-398 and E<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>-CA42, and to acridine dyes. The mutant strain displayed the same general pattern of tolerance or sensitivity as the parent strain towards eight antibiotics, colicins C, D, E<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>, E<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>, F<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>, F<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>, G, I, K, and N; phages T<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>, T<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>, T<jats:sub>5<\/jats:sub>, T<jats:sub>6<\/jats:sub>, T<jats:sub>7<\/jats:sub>, F<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>, \u03bb vir, P<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>kc, [Formula: see text] 80, and BF23; and to methylene blue, triphenyltetrazolium chloride, ethylene-diaminetetraacetate (EDTA), deoxycholate, and sodium dodecyl sulfate.
