Macroscopically, this dynamic creates a statistical relationship between age and income for each society. In this study, we investigate income distribution and its relationship with age and identify a stable joint distribution function for age and income within the United Kingdom and the United States. We demonstrate a flexible calibration methodology using panel and population surveys and capture the characteristic differences between the UK and the US populations. The model here presented can be utilised for forecasting income and planning pensions.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1140\/epjds\/s13688-022-00317-x","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,1,29]],"date-time":"2022-01-29T10:03:21Z","timestamp":1643450601000},"update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1007\/springer_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":9,"title":["A generative model for age and income distribution"],"prefix":"10.1140","volume":"11","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-7870-6316","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Fatih","family":"Ozhamaratli","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Oleg","family":"Kitov","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Paolo","family":"Barucca","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"297","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,1,29]]},"reference":[{"issue":"250","key":"317_CR1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","first-page":"318","DOI":"10.2307\/2227127","volume":"63","author":"DG Champernowne","year":"1953","unstructured":"Champernowne DG (1953) A model of income distribution.
