The experiment was performed at the high-intensity low-energy pion beam of the Paul Scherrer Institute by using the cyclotron trap and a high-resolution Bragg spectrometer with spherically bent crystals. Coulomb de-excitation was studied in detail by comparing its influence on the line shape by measuring the three different transitions K<jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$\\alpha $$<\/jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\">\n                  <mml:mi>\u03b1<\/mml:mi>\n                <\/mml:math><\/jats:alternatives><\/jats:inline-formula>, K<jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$\\beta $$<\/jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\">\n                  <mml:mi>\u03b2<\/mml:mi>\n                <\/mml:math><\/jats:alternatives><\/jats:inline-formula>, and K<jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$\\gamma $$<\/jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\">\n                  <mml:mi>\u03b3<\/mml:mi>\n                <\/mml:math><\/jats:alternatives><\/jats:inline-formula> at various hydrogen densities.
