However, these approaches are mostly restricted to the vertical part of 2-D transforms with line-wise organized memory layouts because this leads to a rather straight forward SIMD-implementation. This work shows for an example of a common wavelet filter new approaches to use SIMD operations on 1-D transforms that are able to produce reasonable speedups. As a result, the performance of algorithms that use wavelet transforms, such as JPEG2000, can be increased significantly. Various variants of parallelization are presented and compared. Their advantages and disadvantages for general filters are discussed. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s012962640600268x","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2006,9,28]],"date-time":"2006-09-28T01:41:20Z","timestamp":1159407680000},"page":"335-349","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["PARALLELIZATION OF WAVELET FILTERS USING SIMD EXTENSIONS"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"16","author":[{"given":"RADE","family":"KUTIL","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Sciences, University of Salzburg, Jakob Haringerstr. 2, 5020 Salzburg, Austria"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"PETER","family":"EDER","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Sciences, University of Salzburg, Jakob Haringerstr. 2, 5020 Salzburg, Austria"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"219","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,11,21]]},"reference":[{"key":"rf2","first-page":"31","volume":"8","author":"Kutil R.","journal-title":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology (Special Issue on Parallel Numerics and Parallel Computing in Image Processing, Video Processing, and Multimedia)"},{"key":"rf4","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1023\/A:1008229209464"},{"key":"rf6","first-page":"759","volume":"3","author":"Chakrabarti C.","journal-title":"IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing"},{"key":"rf10","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/83.826776"},{"key":"rf11","first-page":"245","volume":"4","author":"Daubechies I.","journal-title":"Journal of Fourier Analysis Applications"},{"key":"rf12","first-page":"232","volume":"93","author":"P\u00fcschel Markus","journal-title":"Proceedings of the IEEE, special issue on \"Program Generation, Optimization, and Adaptation\""}],"container-title":["Parallel Processing Letters"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.worldscientific.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1142\/S012962640600268X","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2019,8,7]],"date-time":"2019-08-07T13:28:57Z","timestamp":1565184537000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.worldscientific.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1142\/S012962640600268X"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2006,9]]},"references-count":6,"journal-issue":{"issue":"03","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,11,21]]},"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2006,9]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1142\/S012962640600268X"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1142\/s012962640600268x","relation":{},"ISSN":["0129-6264","1793-642X"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0129-6264","type":"print"},{"value":"1793-642X","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2006,9]]}}}
