In this paper we discuss Opus in the Context of multidisciplinary applications (MDAs) which execute in a heterogencous environment. After outlining the major properties of such applications and a number of different approaches towards providing language and tool support for MDAs we describe the salientfeatures of Opus and its implementation, emphasizing the issues related to the coordination of data-parallel HPF programs in a heterogencous environment. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s0129626499000256","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2003,2,26]],"date-time":"2003-02-26T05:09:39Z","timestamp":1046236179000},"page":"275-289","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["OPUS: HETEROGENEOUS COMPUTING WITH DATA PARALLEL TASKS"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"09","author":[{"given":"ERWIN","family":"LAURE","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute for Software Technology and Parallel Systems, University of Vienna, Liechtensteinstrasse 22, A-1090 Vienna, Austria"}]},{"given":"PIYUSH","family":"MEHROTRA","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute for Computer Applications in Science and Engineering, NASA Langley Research Center, Mail Stop 132C Hampton.
