Similar to the complex number method for circuits with sinusoidal voltages and currents, the proposed method reduces the analysis of nonsinusoidal circuits to the analysis of direct-current circuits. A special system of hypercomplex numbers, called hypernions, has been created in order to obtain a new efficient method for analyzing nonsinusoidal networks. This system is interesting in that it expands the concept of numbers and attaches meaning to equations and transformations involving discontinuous functions and makes it possible to describe various non-Euclidean spaces. It is shown that the proposed method of analysis of linear nonsinusoidal electric networks makes it possible to carry out numerical calculations for complex circuits by using standard software. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s0218126604001192","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2004,4,26]],"date-time":"2004-04-26T05:18:00Z","timestamp":1082956680000},"page":"65-76","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["HYPERNION NUMBERS AND THEIR USE IN THE ANALYSIS OF NETWORKS DRIVEN BY NONSINUSOIDAL SOURCES"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"13","author":[{"given":"Y.","family":"BERKOVICH","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Holon Academic Institute of Technology, 52 Golomb Street, Holon 58102, Israel"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"A.","family":"SHENKMAN","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Holon Academic Institute of Technology, 52 Golomb Street, Holon 58102, Israel"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"219","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,11,21]]},"reference":[{"key":"rf1","first-page":"45","volume":"21","author":"Berkovich Y.","journal-title":"Introducing Hypernion Numbers for the Analysis of Electric Networks Driven by Nonsinusoidal Sources, IEEE Power Engineering Review"},{"key":"rf2","volume-title":"Mathematical Handbook for Scientists and Engineers","author":"Korn G.
