With that in mind, we propose using monic Chebyshev polynomials as the characteristic function for the filter to achieve a low passband insertion loss and maximum cutoff slope. The half-power cutoff frequency characterizes these filters, and the ripple factor is not considered a design parameter. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the monic Chebyshev approximation, a comparison is made with chained function (CF) filters designed for microwave applications.
