The purpose is thus not to present an efficient algorithm for solving this problem in practice, but to offer a mathematical proof that an arbitrarily tight approximation of the linear phase behavior in any given finite frequency interval is always feasible. In a first step it is shown that the problem can be reduced to the equalization of the phase of a real first-order all-pass section.
