In many applications, a critical element of the control circuit is the capability to program a specified amount of dead time when both PWM signals are low. This paper presents an integrated circuit implementation of a control circuit that can be programmed with digital inputs to produce variable dead times. The circuit was fabricated in 2-micron CMOS technology with a 1.7 mm \u00d7 1.7 mm die and tested to verify complete functionality. Control chips that are currently available require external capacitor\/resistor combinations to produce the required dead time. A unique design of a Bi-CMOS buffer with an output current up to 1.4 A is also included, which enables the PWM circuit to directly drive the gates of power MOSFETs. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s0218126695000266","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2004,11,12]],"date-time":"2004-11-12T11:59:25Z","timestamp":1100260765000},"page":"429-441","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["CMOS PWM CONTROL CIRCUIT WITH PROGRAMMABLE DEAD TIME"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"05","author":[{"given":"RAYMOND E.","family":"SIFERD","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Wright State University, Department of Electrical Engineering, Dayton, OH 45435, USA"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"suffix":"II","given":"ROBERT C.","family":"CRAVENS","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Wright State University, Department of Electrical Engineering, Dayton, OH 45435, USA"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"MARIAN K.","family":"KAZIMIERCZUK","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Wright State University, Department of Electrical Engineering, Dayton, OH 45435, USA"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"219","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,11,21]]},"container-title":["Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.worldscientific.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1142\/S0218126695000266","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2019,8,7]],"date-time":"2019-08-07T02:47:23Z","timestamp":1565146043000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.worldscientific.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1142\/S0218126695000266"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[1995,9]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"03","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,11,21]]},"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1995,9]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1142\/S0218126695000266"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1142\/s0218126695000266","relation":{},"ISSN":["0218-1266","1793-6454"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0218-1266","type":"print"},{"value":"1793-6454","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[1995,9]]}}}
