Under such condition, the discrete-time model of the converter could be modeled as a discontinuous map, comprising either 1D functions only or a combination of 1D and 2D functions. Using the PSM mechanism, efficiency and spectral composition could be further improved by incorporating a voltage feedback loop. In this paper we show that, in a converter under voltage controlled PSM, the entire map can be restricted to one dimension for a wide range of parameters, by properly designing the controller. As a parameter is varied, the periodicity of the output waveform may change either monotonically or non-monotonically depending on the character of the voltage mode control loop. Technically it is desirable to operate the converter in such a way that a variation of a parameter can cause only incremental change in the periodicity and hence in the spectral composition. In the nonlinear dynamics literature, such a bifurcation scenario is known as pure period incrementing cascade. Using the theory for 1D discontinuous maps, we obtain the conditions on the converter's parameters such that such a cascade is obtained, and the variation of a parameter does not cause large variation of the periodicity. The results have been experimentally validated. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s0218127412500496","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2012,2,16]],"date-time":"2012-02-16T01:41:54Z","timestamp":1329356514000},"page":"1250049","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["ONE-DIMENSIONAL DISCONTINUOUS MAP ANALYSIS OF DC\u2013DC CONVERTERS UNDER VOLTAGE CONTROLLED PULSE SKIPPING MODULATION"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"22","author":[{"given":"SANTANU","family":"KAPAT","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"GE Global Research Center, JFWTC, Plot 122, EPIP, Phase-2, Bangalore 560066, Karnataka, India"}]},{"given":"SOUMITRO","family":"BANERJEE","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (Kolkata), Mohanpur-741252, India"}]},{"given":"AMIT","family":"PATRA","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur-721302, India"}]}],"member":"219","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2012,5,2]]},"reference":[{"key":"rf1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1142\/S0218127405012946"},{"key":"rf2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1103\/PhysRevE.75.066205"},{"key":"rf3","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/9780470545393"},{"key":"rf4","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1142\/S0218127403006728"},{"key":"rf5","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1007\/b100747"},{"key":"rf7","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/JSSC.2007.907175"},{"key":"rf8","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1142\/S0218127403008533"},{"key":"rf10","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/TCSI.2009.2034888"},{"key":"rf11","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/TCSI.2011.2106052"},{"key":"rf12","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/TCSII.2007.910801"},{"key":"rf13","first-page":"1716","volume":"2","author":"Luo P.","journal-title":"Proc.
