Bifurcation Chaos"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2025,11]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>We survey some aspects of nonautonomous dynamical systems theory through the lens of fundamental topics typically encountered in a first course on autonomous dynamical systems. Using concrete, analytically tractable examples, we highlight how classical concepts\u2014 such as flows, invariant sets, hyperbolicity, stability, stable and unstable manifolds of hyperbolic trajectories, Lyapunov functions, center manifolds, bifurcations, chaotic behavior, and Hamiltonian dynamics\u00a0\u2014 are manifested in the nonautonomous setting. The discussion reflects on the historical trajectory of the field, contrasting its visibility and application with the autonomous theory, and identifies promising directions for future research, particularly in developing compelling nonautonomous analogs of familiar dynamical objects. Throughout, this paper underscores the importance of processes, pullback attraction, and time-dependent hyperbolicity in shaping a modern understanding of time-varying dynamical behavior.
