We propose a framework, called the G-Net model, for the specification, modeling and prototyping of DIS. The G-Net model not only provides a flexible notation to represent the executable specification of DIS through G-Net instantiation, but also offers a novel style of decentralized concurrent computation, allowing flexible inter-agent communication and interaction. A prototype of the G-Net framework has been implemented on workstations connected by a local network. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s0218194091000172","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2004,11,27]],"date-time":"2004-11-27T01:43:01Z","timestamp":1101519781000},"page":"203-226","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":13,"title":["A FRAMEWORK FOR THE MODELING AND PROTOTYPING OF DISTRIBUTED INFORMATION SYSTEMS"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"01","author":[{"given":"YI","family":"DENG","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Science,  University of Pittsburgh, USA"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"SHI-KUO","family":"CHANG","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Science,  University of Pittsburgh, USA"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"219","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2012,1,25]]},"container-title":["International Journal of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.worldscientific.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1142\/S0218194091000172","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2019,8,7]],"date-time":"2019-08-07T01:15:59Z","timestamp":1565140559000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.worldscientific.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1142\/S0218194091000172"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[1991,9]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"03","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2012,1,25]]},"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1991,9]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1142\/S0218194091000172"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1142\/s0218194091000172","relation":{},"ISSN":["0218-1940","1793-6403"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0218-1940","type":"print"},{"value":"1793-6403","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[1991,9]]}}}
