Algebra Comput."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2006,2]]},"abstract":"<jats:p> In this work we give pairs of generators (x, y) for the alternating groups A<jats:sub>n<\/jats:sub>, 5 \u2264 n \u2264 19, such that they determine the minimal genus of a Riemann surface on which A<jats:sub>n<\/jats:sub> acts as the automorphism group.
