This model is constructed using discoveries from both connectionism and symbolic research which guided the construction of our own cognitive modeling system. This system consists of 1) a cognitive theory, 2) a cognitive and a computational architecture, and 3) the support environment necessary to construct concurrent symbolic-based cognitive models using a multi-agent environment. After providing the discourse performance of the resulting model, we also address the pragmatic consideration of building and supporting the resulting modeling system and language model on a cluster of SMP computers. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s0218213001000416","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2003,6,4]],"date-time":"2003-06-04T05:18:04Z","timestamp":1054703884000},"page":"39-63","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["DEVELOPING A TOOL FOR UNIFIED COGNITIVE MODELING USING A MODEL OF LEARNING AND UNDERSTANDING IN YOUNG CHILDREN"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"10","author":[{"given":"CHARLES","family":"HANNON","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Texas at Arlington, Box 19015, Arlington, TX 76019, USA"}]},{"given":"DIANE J.","family":"COOK","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Texas at Arlington, Box 19015, Arlington, TX 76019, USA"}]}],"member":"219","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2012,4,30]]},"reference":[{"issue":"4","key":"p_12","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"391","DOI":"10.1207\/s15327051hci1204_4","volume":"12","author":"Kieras D.
