The quantitative bilateral symmetry of a given scene is computed using dynamic programming before applying the resulting symmetry image and feature vector signatures to an omnidirectional motion tracking task. Compared to other approaches to symmetry detection in computer vision, the results of our novel algorithm describe symmetry in terms of an absolute region instead of a relative degree. In this paper, we describe further optimizations and details of the proposed Dynamic Programming Symmetry feature detection algorithm (DPS algorithm). <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s021987890500060x","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2005,11,7]],"date-time":"2005-11-07T09:31:31Z","timestamp":1131355891000},"page":"241-249","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["OPTIMIZED QUANTITATIVE BILATERAL SYMMETRY DETECTION"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"02","author":[{"given":"KAI","family":"HUEBNER","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Bremen Institute of Safe Systems, University of Bremen, Germany"}]},{"given":"DANIEL","family":"WESTHOFF","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Technical Aspects of Multimodal Systems, University of Hamburg, Germany"}]},{"given":"JIANWEI","family":"ZHANG","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Technical Aspects of Multimodal Systems, University of Hamburg, Germany"}]}],"member":"219","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,11,20]]},"reference":[{"key":"rf1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/0167-8655(96)00004-9"},{"key":"rf3","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/S0042-6989(03)00073-7"},{"key":"rf6","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/S0167-8655(01)00132-5"},{"key":"rf7","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/0898-1221(89)90246-0"},{"key":"rf8","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/TPAMI.2003.1217601"},{"key":"rf9","first-page":"139","volume":"7","author":"Ohta Y.","journal-title":"IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence"},{"key":"rf10","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1037\/0096-1523.4.4.691"},{"key":"rf11","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1007\/BF01418978"},{"key":"rf12","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/TPAMI.2003.1190569"},{"key":"rf13","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1023\/A:1014562312225"}],"container-title":["International Journal of Information Acquisition"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.worldscientific.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1142\/S021987890500060X","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2019,8,6]],"date-time":"2019-08-06T23:07:15Z","timestamp":1565132835000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.worldscientific.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1142\/S021987890500060X"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2005,9]]},"references-count":10,"journal-issue":{"issue":"03","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,11,20]]},"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2005,9]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1142\/S021987890500060X"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1142\/s021987890500060x","relation":{},"ISSN":["0219-8789","1793-6985"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0219-8789","type":"print"},{"value":"1793-6985","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2005,9]]}}}
