Sys."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2026,3]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>With the increasing global prevalence of e-waste, the refurbishment and resale of electronic products have become crucial measures to mitigate environmental pressures and foster a circular economy. This study examines the strategic choices of a manufacturer and an e-tailer between reselling and agency selling, considering the role of a third-party refurbisher (TPR) in four scenarios. The findings indicate that the manufacturer consistently favors agency selling, while the preference of the e-tailer depends on a combination of various factors. The TPR tends to favor reselling if the production cost of new products becomes comparatively large; otherwise, agency selling is preferred. Furthermore, the TPR\u2019s entry consistently leads to reduced pricing and demand for new products. In this paper, the circumstances under which a uniform preference can be selected for all parties are examined. The findings indicate that it is exclusively achievable in the agency selling format.
