Ice contact features around Almondbank and Dunning, previously thought to be associated with active ice-margins when this important shoreline was forming, were probably produced by local masses of dead-ice isolated by the earlier retreat of the Tay and Earn Glaciers. Following deglaciation a delta, which graded to a sea-level consistent with the minimum marine limit of 46 m O.D. at Strageath, developed in the vicinity of Crieff. Subsequently three series of terraces formed in response to the relative fall of sea-level brought about by the isostatic recovery of the land.
