A body of recent psychological research has been concerned with the child's developing understanding of other people and in particular with their understanding that one person (A) can infer how B views a situation and that A also can know that B is capable of Inferring A's point of view. The ability to coordinate multiple perspectives has been called \"role-taking\". The (notation system) provides a means for precisely specifying the role-taking demands of stories or videotaped skits that involve two interacting characters. The specification provides the basis for predicting the relative difficulty that elementary school children would have in telling about several skits produced for children's television which are being used as stimulus materials.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/1045416.1045427","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2007,1,17]],"date-time":"2007-01-17T18:32:02Z","timestamp":1169058722000},"page":"8-8","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Children's understanding of interacting plans"],"prefix":"10.1145","author":[{"given":"Denis","family":"Newman","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"City University of New York, New York, NY"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[1978,8]]},"reference":[{"volume-title":"Theoretical Sociology.
