So useful is this feature (and so well within the capabilities of modern computers) that we now find it in other text-handling applications such as mailers and web browsers. Mac OS offers it on all text components for no extra programming effort. Programs that don't check what you're typing as you type it are becoming increasingly annoying and the surprising number of programs that won't check your spelling at all are even worse.Despite this, the editors and other tools used by programmers are least likely to offer spelling checking.
