To gain this understanding, detailed cycle level simulators are typically employed. Unfortunately, this level of detail comes at the cost of speed, and simulating the full execution of an industry standard benchmark on even the fastest simulator can take weeks to months to complete. This fact has not gone unnoticed, and several techniques have been developed aimed at reducing simulation time.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/1054907.1054913","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2007,1,17]],"date-time":"2007-01-17T18:32:02Z","timestamp":1169058722000},"page":"25-30","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":49,"title":["How to use SimPoint to pick simulation points"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"31","author":[{"given":"Greg","family":"Hamerly","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of California, San Diego"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Erez","family":"Perelman","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of California, San Diego"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Brad","family":"Calder","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of California, San Diego"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2004,3]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.5555\/1153925.1154587"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/12.689650"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.5555\/645464.653497"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_4_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.5555\/2073946.2073964"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_5_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.5555\/1153924.1154563"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_6_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/12.286300"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_7_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.5555\/1153925.1154588"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_8_1","first-page":"281","volume-title":"Proceedings of the Fifth Berkeley Symposium on Mathematical Statistics and Probability","author":"MacQueen J.","year":"1967","unstructured":"J.
