However, the complete XQuery syntax and semantics seem too complicated for research and educational purposes. By defining a concise backwards compatible subset of XQuery with a complete formal description, we provide a practical foundation for XQuery research. We pay special attention to usability by supporting the most typical XQuery expressions.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/1107499.1107501","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2006,2,6]],"date-time":"2006-02-06T18:14:10Z","timestamp":1139249650000},"page":"21-26","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":6,"title":["LiXQuery"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"34","author":[{"given":"Jan","family":"Hidders","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Antwerp, Antwerp, Belgium"}]},{"given":"Philippe","family":"Michiels","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Antwerp, Antwerp, Belgium"}]},{"given":"Jan","family":"Paredaens","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Antwerp, Antwerp, Belgium"}]},{"given":"Roel","family":"Vercammen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Antwerp, Antwerp, Belgium"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2005,12]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","unstructured":"XML query (XQuery). http:\/\/www.w3.org\/XML\/Query.
