However, the potentially personal content of query logs raises a number of questions about the use of that data. Privacy advocates are concerned about potential misuse of personal data; search engine providers are interested in protecting their users while maintaining a competitive edge; and academic researchers are frustrated by barriers to shared learning though shared data analysis.
