Students often find it difficult to understand how Prolog implements logical deduction and handles variable bindings as it processes a query. The authors show snapshots of the deduction process and present a graphical (\"jigsaw puzzle\") representation of the emerging logical relationships, which our students find to be helpful. Typical parent-child predicate relationships are used as introductory examples.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/1869746.1869761","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2012,10,15]],"date-time":"2012-10-15T19:22:23Z","timestamp":1350328943000},"page":"43-48","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":6,"title":["Visualizing Prolog"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"1","author":[{"given":"Lee","family":"Mondshein","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, Massachusetts"}]},{"given":"Abdul","family":"Sattar","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, Massachusetts"}]},{"given":"Torben","family":"Lorenzen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, Massachusetts"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2010,12]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1007\/978-3-642-55481-0"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","volume-title":"The Art of Prolog","author":"Sterling L.","year":"1994","unstructured":"Sterling L. and E.
