Many robust NLP systems have been developed for handling machine translation, question-answering, summarization, topic detection, cluster analysis, information extraction, named entity recognition (NER), etc. Despite this advancement in NLP research, the results are still not accessible for common desktop users. In the current scenario, it is difficult to integrate a new NLP tool with the existing text processing applications. To overcome this, we have implemented a service deployer framework based on DBus[1] for the seamless integration of NLP applications with desktop clients like email clients, word processors, browsers etc. This framework enables NLP researchers to make their products equipped for the desktop clients with minimal efforts.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/2492248.2492265","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2013,7,16]],"date-time":"2013-07-16T18:06:45Z","timestamp":1373998005000},"page":"1-4","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["NLP@Desktop"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"38","author":[{"given":"Indu","family":"S.","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"C-DAC Bangalore, Bangalore, Karnataka, India"}]},{"given":"Srinivas","family":"N.K.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"C-DAC Bangalore, Bangalore, Karnataka, India"}]},{"given":"Harish","family":"P.J.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"C-DAC Bangalore, Bangalore, Karnataka, India"}]},{"given":"GangaPrasad","family":"R.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"C-DAC Bangalore, Bangalore, Karnataka, India"}]},{"given":"Nobby","family":"Varghese","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"C-DAC Bangalore, Bangalore, Karnataka, India"}]},{"given":"N.S.","family":"Sreekanth","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"C-DAC Bangalore, Bangalore, Karnataka, India"}]},{"given":"Supriya N.","family":"Pal","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"C-DAC Bangalore, Bangalore, Karnataka, India"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2013,7,12]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","unstructured":"DBus Tutorial http:\/\/dbus.freedesktop.org\/doc\/dbus-tutorial.html  DBus Tutorial http:\/\/dbus.freedesktop.org\/doc\/dbus-tutorial.html"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","unstructured":"General Architecture for Text Engineering http:\/\/gate.ac.uk  General Architecture for Text Engineering http:\/\/gate.ac.uk"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","unstructured":"Apache UIMA http:\/\/uima.apache.org\/  Apache UIMA http:\/\/uima.apache.org\/"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_4_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1093\/bioinformatics\/bth386"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_5_1","unstructured":"Scrutiny http:\/\/playgen.com\/play\/scrutiny\/  Scrutiny http:\/\/playgen.com\/play\/scrutiny\/"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_6_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1007\/978-3-540-89704-0_25"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_7_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1007\/978-3-540-69858-6_31"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_8_1","unstructured":"Punjabi Grammar Checker http:\/\/www.advancedcentrepunjabi.org\/  Punjabi Grammar Checker http:\/\/www.advancedcentrepunjabi.org\/"}],"container-title":["ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Notes"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.1145\/2492248.2492265","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/pdf\/10.1145\/2492248.2492265","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,6,18]],"date-time":"2025-06-18T08:39:02Z","timestamp":1750235942000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.1145\/2492248.2492265"}},"subtitle":["a service oriented architecture for integrating NLP services in desktop clients"],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2013,7,12]]},"references-count":8,"journal-issue":{"issue":"4","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2013,7,12]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1145\/2492248.2492265"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/2492248.2492265","relation":{},"ISSN":["0163-5948"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"0163-5948"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2013,7,12]]},"assertion":[{"value":"2013-07-12","order":2,"name":"published","label":"Published","group":{"name":"publication_history","label":"Publication History"}}]}}
