We discuss the drawbacks of these approaches and introduce two new design constructs: facilitative and rememberative. A facilitative design introduces external interaction mechanisms that reward physical exertion with an increase of control over the utility and entertainment value of a game. The rememberative approach leverages \"ambient\" design artifacts embedded into the gaming experience reminding the gamer to exercise. We propose to explore the use of these design constructs in existing games and discuss two prototypes based on them.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/2656870.2656873","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2014,7,29]],"date-time":"2014-07-29T12:28:17Z","timestamp":1406636897000},"page":"11-15","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Facilitative and rememberative"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"44","author":[{"given":"Vaibhav","family":"Garg","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Drexel University"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Emily K.","family":"Adams","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Indiana University"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Nathaniel","family":"Husted","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Indiana University"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"James","family":"Brown","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Indiana University"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2014,7]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/1371216.1371224"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/1129006.1129019"},{"issue":"4","key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","first-page":"967","volume":"32","author":"Jakicic J.
