The workshop programme included seven oral presentations of refereed papers, four posters and an invited keynote presentation. This allowed time for lively discussions among the 27 participants. These made clear the significant and diverse challenges in the area of medical information retrieval and the significant interest in developing mechanisms to go about tackling them.
