In our prior work [11], we proposed iBall, a system that explores the possibility of bringing IoT to sports analytics, particularly to the game of Cricket. iBall develops solutions to track a ball's 3D trajectory and spin with inexpensive sensors and radios embedded in the ball. Towards this end, iBall performs fusion of wireless and inertial sensory data and integrates them into physics-based motion models of a ball in flight. The median ball location error is at 8cm while rotational error remains below 12\u00b0 even at the end of the flight. The results do not rely on training, hence we expect the core techniques to extend to other sports like baseball, with some domain-specific modifications.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3191789.3191793","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,3,1]],"date-time":"2018-03-01T15:27:23Z","timestamp":1519918043000},"page":"8-14","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":12,"title":["IoT Platform for Sports Analytics"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"21","author":[{"given":"Mahanth","family":"Gowda","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Pennsylvania State University"}]},{"given":"Ashutosh","family":"Dhekne","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign"}]},{"given":"Sheng","family":"Shen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign"}]},{"given":"Romit Roy","family":"Choudhury","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign"}]},{"given":"Sharon Xue","family":"Yang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Intel"}]},{"given":"Lei","family":"Yang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Intel"}]},{"given":"Suresh","family":"Golwalkar","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Intel"}]},{"given":"Alexander","family":"Essanian","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Intel"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2018,2,28]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","unstructured":"D2m. http:\/\/d2m-inc.com\/.
