This makes it tempting to look under the lamppost using simpler tools. You will waste a lot of high-pressure time following that path when you have a sudden complex performance crisis. Instead, know what each tool you use is blind to, know what information you need to understand a performance problem, and then look for tools that can actually observe that information directly.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3291276.3291278","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,11,7]],"date-time":"2018-11-07T13:31:28Z","timestamp":1541597488000},"page":"54-80","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Benchmarking \"Hello, World!\""],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"16","author":[{"given":"Richard L.","family":"Sites","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2018,10]]},"reference":[{"doi-asserted-by":"publisher","key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","DOI":"10.1145\/1117389.1117401"},{"doi-asserted-by":"publisher","key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","DOI":"10.1145\/2408776.2408794"},{"doi-asserted-by":"publisher","key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","DOI":"10.1145\/3232559"},{"doi-asserted-by":"publisher","key":"e_1_2_1_4_1","DOI":"10.1145\/872726.806987"},{"doi-asserted-by":"publisher","key":"e_1_2_1_5_1","DOI":"10.1145\/2405116.2413037"},{"unstructured":"Kernighan B.
