Over the past 10-15 years there has been an explosion in the capabilities of both robots and computing systems in general. These advances allow robots and other computer systems to assist humans in their work, as well as replace them in some instances. In this paper the authors will use the term botsourcing, and consider it as the augmentation or replacement of human workers by robots or other computing systems. This paper will discuss the nature and appeal of botsourcing, as well as its positive and negative impact on society.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3307622.3307623","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,1,15]],"date-time":"2019-01-15T19:03:32Z","timestamp":1547579012000},"page":"10-13","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Botsourcing's impact on society"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"48","author":[{"given":"Richard","family":"Vedder","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Stephen","family":"Guynes","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"James","family":"Parrish","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2019,1,15]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","unstructured":"Brynjolfsson E. & McAfee A.
