When a binomial catastrophe occurs, each customer is either removed with a probability or is retained with the complementary probability. We focus on our model under a heavy traffic regime because its exact analysis is difficult if not impossible. We establish a central limit theorem for the stationary queue length of our model in a heavy traffic regime. The central limit theorem can be used to approximate the queue length distribution of our model with large arrival rates.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3308897.3308911","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,1,28]],"date-time":"2019-01-28T14:01:39Z","timestamp":1548684099000},"page":"33-34","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["A central limit theorem for a Markov-modulated infinite-server queue with batch Poisson arrivals and binomial catastrophes"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"46","author":[{"given":"M.","family":"Yajima","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"T.","family":"Phung-Duc","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2019,1,25]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1017\/S026996481500008X"}],"container-title":["ACM SIGMETRICS Performance Evaluation Review"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.1145\/3308897.3308911","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/pdf\/10.1145\/3308897.3308911","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,6,18]],"date-time":"2025-06-18T00:58:03Z","timestamp":1750208283000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.1145\/3308897.3308911"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2019,1,25]]},"references-count":1,"journal-issue":{"issue":"3","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2019,1,25]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1145\/3308897.3308911"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/3308897.3308911","relation":{},"ISSN":["0163-5999"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"0163-5999"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2019,1,25]]},"assertion":[{"value":"2019-01-25","order":2,"name":"published","label":"Published","group":{"name":"publication_history","label":"Publication History"}}]}}
