We study the feasibility of detecting rhythms in data that is passively collected from Fitbit devices and using the obtained model parameters to predict readmission risk after pancreatic surgery. We analyze data from 49 patients who were tracked before surgery, in hospital, and after discharge. Our analysis produces a model of individual patients' rhythms for each stage of treatment that is predictive of readmission. All of the rhythm-based models outperform the traditional approaches to readmission risk stratification that uses administrative data.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3314395","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,4,2]],"date-time":"2019-04-02T11:57:40Z","timestamp":1554206260000},"page":"1-21","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":29,"title":["Modeling Biobehavioral Rhythms with Passive Sensing in the Wild"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"3","author":[{"given":"Afsaneh","family":"Doryab","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Anind K.","family":"Dey","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Grace","family":"Kao","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Carissa","family":"Low","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2019,3,29]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/2632048.2632100"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","volume-title":"Mobile health","author":"Abdullah Saeed","unstructured":"Saeed Abdullah , Elizabeth L Murnane , Mark Matthews , and Tanzeem Choudhury . 2017.
