However, little is known about older adults\u2019 in-depth opinions of robot-delivered games, as current research primarily focuses on technical development and one-off use. This article explores the usability, acceptability, and perceptions of community-dwelling older adults towards cognitive games delivered on a robot that incorporated movable interactive blocks. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants at the end of a 12-week cognitive stimulation games intervention delivered entirely on robots. Participants were 10 older adults purposively sampled from two retirement villages. A framework analysis approach was used to code data to predefined themes related to technology acceptance (perceived benefits, satisfaction, and preference), and usability (effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction). Results indicated that cognitive games delivered on a robot may be a valuable addition to existing cognitive stimulation activities. The robot was considered easy to use and useful in improving cognitive functioning. Future developments should incorporate interactive gaming tools, the use of social anthropomorphic robots, contrasting colour schemes to accommodate macular degeneration, and cultural-specific imagery and language. This will help cater to the preferences and age-related health needs of older adults, to ultimately enhance usability and acceptability.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3451882","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,7,14]],"date-time":"2021-07-14T16:04:28Z","timestamp":1626278668000},"page":"1-18","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":39,"title":["Robot-Delivered Cognitive Stimulation Games for Older Adults"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"10","author":[{"given":"Norina","family":"Gasteiger","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Population Health, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Ho Seok","family":"Ahn","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Chiara","family":"Gasteiger","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Psychological Medicine, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Christopher","family":"Lee","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Jongyoon","family":"Lim","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Christine","family":"Fok","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Population Health, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Bruce A.","family":"Macdonald","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Geon Ha","family":"Kim","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Neurology, Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital, Ewha Womans University, College of Medicine, Seoul, South Korea"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Elizabeth","family":"Broadbent","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Psychological Medicine, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2021,7,14]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.cger.2013.07.002"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1136\/pgmj.2005.036665"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1146\/annurev-psych-120710-100328"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_4_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/S0197-4580(00)00250-5"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_5_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.2174\/157015909787602823"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_6_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1523\/JNEUROSCI.23-08-03295.2003"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_7_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.pec.2011.08.017"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_8_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1111\/jgs.12607"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_9_1","volume-title":"Whitepaper: Defining and investigating cognitive reserve, brain reserve, and brain maintenance.
