We also detail the difference between first-person methods, second-person, and third-person methods, as a way to guide the reader when engaging the special issue articles. We articulate our motivation for putting together this special issue: we wanted a collection of works that would allow HCI researchers to develop further, define, and outline practices, techniques and implications of first-person methods. We trace links between the articles in this special issue and conclude with questions and directions for future work in this methodological space: working with boundaries, risk, and accountability.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3492342","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,12,23]],"date-time":"2021-12-23T13:21:43Z","timestamp":1640265703000},"page":"1-12","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":120,"title":["Introduction to the Special Issue on First-Person Methods in HCI"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"28","author":[{"given":"Audrey","family":"Desjardins","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Art + Art History + Design, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Oscar","family":"Tomico","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"ELISAVA and Eindhoven University of Technology, Barcelona, Spain"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Andr\u00e9s","family":"Lucero","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Aalto University, Espoo, Finland"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Marta E.","family":"Cecchinato","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Carman","family":"Neustaedter","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Interactive Arts + Technology, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, B.C., Canada"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2021,12,23]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_3_1_2_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1525\/irqr.2015.8.1.109"},{"key":"e_1_3_1_3_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/3461778.3461999"},{"key":"e_1_3_1_4_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/782896.782923"},{"key":"e_1_3_1_5_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/3322276.3322376"},{"key":"e_1_3_1_6_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/3290605.3300528"},{"key":"e_1_3_1_7_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/347642.347802"},{"key":"e_1_3_1_8_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/259963.260102"},{"key":"e_1_3_1_9_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/3025453.3025538"},{"key":"e_1_3_1_10_2","first-page":"1","article-title":"Technology-mediated relationship maintenance in romantic long-distance relationships: An autoethnographical research through design","author":"Chien Wei-Chi","year":"2017","unstructured":"Wei-Chi Chien and Marc Hassenzahl. 2017.
