With most workrelated travel curtailed and many knowledge workers constrained to work-from-home, face-to-face interaction was replaced by a world of virtual communication and collaboration. In 2021, workflows continue to evolve for universities, corporations, and governments to support \"socially distant\" R&D, education, and organizational infrastructure. This paper reports on a ICSE 2021 workshop panel focused on how COVID-19 has inspired changes to university-company collaborations, for better or worse. The panel was organized and moderated by Steven Fraser (Innoxec) with invited panelists Sheri Brodeur (MIT), Randy Katz (UC Berkeley), Xue [Steve] Liu (McGill), Stefanie Molthagen- Schn\u00f6ring (HTW-Berlin), and Sheng-Ying [Aithne] Pao (NTHU Taiwan).<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3502771.3502776","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,1,26]],"date-time":"2022-01-26T05:14:54Z","timestamp":1643174094000},"page":"12-14","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Strategies for \"Socially Distant\""],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"47","author":[{"given":"Steven","family":"Fraser","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Innoxec, Santa Clara, CA, USA"}]},{"given":"Dennis","family":"Mancl","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"MSWX Software Experts, Bridgewater, NJ, USA"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,1,25]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/SER-IP52554.2021.00017"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/SER-IP52554.2021.00011"}],"container-title":["ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Notes"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.1145\/3502771.3502776","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/pdf\/10.1145\/3502771.3502776","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,6,17]],"date-time":"2025-06-17T19:30:33Z","timestamp":1750188633000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.1145\/3502771.3502776"}},"subtitle":["University-Company Collaborations"],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2022,1,25]]},"references-count":2,"journal-issue":{"issue":"1","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2022,1,25]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1145\/3502771.3502776"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/3502771.3502776","relation":{},"ISSN":["0163-5948"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"0163-5948"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2022,1,25]]},"assertion":[{"value":"2022-01-25","order":2,"name":"published","label":"Published","group":{"name":"publication_history","label":"Publication History"}}]}}
