However, traditional Mongolian NER models heavily rely on the feature engineering. Even worse, the complex morphological structure of Mongolian words makes the data sparser. To alleviate the feature engineering and data sparsity in Mongolian named entity recognition, we propose a novel NER framework with\n Multi-Knowledge Enhancement (MKE-NER)<\/jats:bold>\n . Specifically, we introduce both linguistic knowledge through Mongolian morpheme representation and cross-lingual knowledge from Mongolian-Chinese parallel corpus. Furthermore, we design two methods to exploit cross-lingual knowledge sufficiently, i.e., cross-lingual representation and cross-lingual annotation projection. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our MKE-NER model, which outperforms strong baselines and achieves the best performance (94.04% F1 score) on the traditional Mongolian benchmark. Particularly, extensive experiments with different data scales highlight the superiority of our method in low-resource scenarios.\n <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3511098","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,4,29]],"date-time":"2022-04-29T11:41:22Z","timestamp":1651232482000},"page":"1-19","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["Exploiting Morpheme and Cross-lingual Knowledge to Enhance Mongolian Named Entity Recognition"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"21","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0409-430X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Songming","family":"Zhang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0688-2502","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Ying","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0437-6788","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Yufeng","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4646-6709","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Du","family":"Wu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0170-626X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jinan","family":"Xu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4728-5678","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jian","family":"Liu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,9,23]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_3_2_2_2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/ACCESS.2020.2973928"},{"key":"e_1_3_2_3_2","article-title":"Neural machine translation by jointly learning to align and translate","author":"Bahdanau Dzmitry","year":"2014","unstructured":"Dzmitry Bahdanau, Kyunghyun Cho, and Yoshua Bengio. 2014.
