Specifically, our approach allows all of the creative spirits (i.e., creative agencies) taking part in the making process---from the ancient makers, to the digital craftsperson, to the making machine itself---to be represented in the final outcome. The paper explores the evolution of our technique through three projects that rely on both digital and traditional making practices. We introduce the notion of a digital spirit, which allows for a holistic and respectful integration of diverse making agencies in a unified hybrid practice.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3533609","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,9,7]],"date-time":"2022-09-07T19:45:47Z","timestamp":1662579947000},"page":"1-8","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":6,"title":["The Ghost in The Machine"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"5","author":[{"given":"Sharan R.","family":"Elran","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"The School of Computer Science and Engineering, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Amit R.","family":"Zoran","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"The School of Computer Science and Engineering, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,9,7]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_2_1_1","volume-title":"Accessed","author":"Benyamini Contemporary Ceramics Center","year":"2020","unstructured":"Benyamini Contemporary Ceramics Center . 2020 .
