The method can predict the success rates for more practical situations under fewer experimental conditions. This shortens the duration of experiments, thus saving costs for researchers and practitioners. We verified the method through two experiments: laboratory-based and crowdsourced ones. In the laboratory-based experiment, we found that using 1D task results to predict the success rate for 2D targets slightly decreases the prediction accuracy. In the crowdsourced experiment, this method scored better than using 2D task results. Thus, we recommend that researchers use the method properly depending on the situation.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3567732","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,11,14]],"date-time":"2022-11-14T21:31:51Z","timestamp":1668461511000},"page":"525-537","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":5,"title":["Predicting Touch Accuracy for Rectangular Targets by Using One-Dimensional Task Results"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"6","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-7192-7231","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Hiroki","family":"Usuba","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Yahoo, Chiyoda-ku, Japan"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9807-120X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Shota","family":"Yamanaka","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Yahoo, Tokyo, Japan"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-3602-2159","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Junichi","family":"Sato","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Yahoo, Chiyoda-ku, Japan"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-7533-8709","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Homei","family":"Miyashita","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,11,14]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/3290607.3310432"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/2470654.2466180"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/2501988.2502058"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_4_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/2984511.2984546"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_5_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.3758\/s13428-014-0458-y"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_6_1","volume-title":"Probability and Statistics for Engineering and the Sciences","author":"Devore Jay L.","unstructured":"Jay L.
