A gap is noted in scholarly studies portraying strong community engagement for risk handling, particularly in resource-constrained regions in the HCI community. This study covers community engagement and its use of technology during COVID-19 through a qualitative study of Bangladesh. The study looks at marginalized communities who have struggled through the pandemic yet handled the difficult time through their effective problem solving, working together as a community when there was not enough support from authorities. It is a qualitative study during the pandemic consisting of nine communities, including 58 participants (\n N<\/jats:italic>\n = 58, Female = 33, Male = 23, Transgender = 2) across four divisions of Bangladesh covering urban, semi-urban, and rural regions. The study uncovers the challenges and close community structures. It also shows the enhanced and increased positive role of technology during the pandemic while also pointing out that a few communities were digitally disconnected and could benefit from digital connectivity in the future through increased awareness and support.\n <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3648433","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,2,20]],"date-time":"2024-02-20T12:23:35Z","timestamp":1708431815000},"page":"1-22","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["Roles of Technology for Risk Communication and Community Engagement in Bangladesh during COVID-19 Pandemic"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"2","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-4225-7413","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Anik","family":"Sinha","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Inclusion Access Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-7715-1742","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Nova","family":"Ahmed","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Inclusion Access Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-8668-0120","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Sabbir","family":"Ahmed","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Inclusion Access Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-0860-0444","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Ifti Azad","family":"Abeer","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Inclusion Access Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-5788-2145","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Rahat Jahangir","family":"Rony","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Inclusion Access Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9240-2108","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Anik","family":"Saha","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Inclusion Access Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-3466-8482","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Syeda Shabnam","family":"Khan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Inclusion Access Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-4899-4780","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Shajnush","family":"Amir","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Inclusion Access Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4863-6417","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Shabana","family":"Khan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Indian Research Academy, Delhi, India"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2024,5,13]]},"reference":[{"issue":"2","key":"e_1_3_3_2_2","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"137","DOI":"10.34172\/hpp.2021.18","article-title":"Risk communication and community engagement strategies for COVID-19 in 13 African countries","volume":"11","author":"Adebisi Y.
