During the project, we maintained a record of all activities and interim design products. Subsequently, selected records were analysed qualitatively. Challenges included engaging patients managing this complex, debilitating health condition and fitting the digital intervention into different and evolving patient pathways provided by clinics. The key contributions of this paper are a description of the clinically supported self-management app, Living With Covid Recovery, and of adapted methods for user-centred design and testing; narratives on engaging diverse clinics integrating a digital health intervention in their care pathways; reflections on designing for diverse users; implications for design of future technologies for supported self-management; and insights into multidisciplinary working that are rarely discussed within HCI.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3711839","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,1,9]],"date-time":"2025-01-09T17:20:17Z","timestamp":1736443217000},"update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Experiences of user-centred design with agile development for clinically supported self-management of Long Covid"],"prefix":"10.1145","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-3198-7122","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Ann","family":"Blandford","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University College London"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0009-0001-5364-4681","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Julia","family":"Bindman","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-5513-7571","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Katherine","family":"Bradbury","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Southampton"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0009-0007-1133-3862","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Belinda","family":"Cooper","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-1842-8342","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Enrico","family":"Costanza","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University College London"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0009-0001-8421-2590","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Sandra","family":"Edwards","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-3126-5074","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Fiona L.","family":"Hamilton","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University College London"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-7507-2119","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Melissa","family":"Heightman","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University College Hospital London"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-7246-6040","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"John R.","family":"Hurst","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University College London"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0009-0002-5525-7869","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Hannah","family":"Hylton","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Barts Health NHS Trust"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2515-3946","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Stuart","family":"Linke","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University College London"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0369-2885","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Paul","family":"Pfeffer","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Barts Health NHS Trust"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-0475-0744","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"William","family":"Ricketts","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Barts Health NHS Trust"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0009-0007-8587-416X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Chris","family":"Robson","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Living With"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2139-2309","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Fiona","family":"Stevenson","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University College London"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9010-1435","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"David","family":"Sunkersing","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University College London"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0009-0006-7553-6397","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jonathan","family":"Waywell","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Living With"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-0979-2839","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Henry","family":"Goodfellow","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University College London"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,1,9]]},"reference":[{"issue":"6","key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"e20861","DOI":"10.2196\/20861","article-title":"Digital self-management support tools in the care plan of patients with cancer: review of randomized controlled trials","volume":"23","author":"Adriaans D.
