ACM"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2025,9]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>\n            There has been some concern about the impact of predatory publishers on scientific research for some time. Recently, publishers previously viewed as \u2018predatory\u2019 have established their\n            <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">bona fides<\/jats:italic>\n            , at least to the extent that they are included in impact scores such as the field-weighted citation impact (FWCI). These are sometimes called\n            <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">grey<\/jats:italic>\n            publishers (MDPI, Frontiers, Hindawi).
