I highlight three scalar devices observed: the First International Gig Workers' Congress, coordinated protest actions, and a book of gig worker testimonies. I argue that although the activists construct their movement as global, it is not scalable in the sense of being able to uniformly expand without changing the nature of the project. Rather, scale is enacted through mutually transforming engagements. This paper contributes an empirical investigation of transnational gig worker resistance contextualized in the Global South, and a theoretical nuance of critiques of scalability from STS through dialogue with CSCW concepts and empirical observations.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3757654","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,10,16]],"date-time":"2025-10-16T16:59:10Z","timestamp":1760633950000},"page":"1-22","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Scalar Devices of a Global Movement of Gig Worker Activists"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"9","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9589-6510","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Lucy","family":"Pei","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of California Irvine, Irvine, CA, USA and University of Southern California Equity Research Institute, Los Angeles, CA, USA"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,10,16]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/3025453.3025974"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1145\/3173574.3173984"},{"volume-title":"Scales of Resistance","author":"Blackwell Maylei","key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","unstructured":"Maylei Blackwell. 2023.
