Unlike previous standards, Wi-Fi 8 ensures sustained throughput and low-latency connectivity in congested, highinterference environments through innovations such as multi-access point coordination, distributed resource units, latency reduction, and dynamic power management. This study analyzes the technological advancements of Wi-Fi 8 and its applications in augmented reality, industrial IoT, and smart cities, providing insights such as scalable interference mitigation and global spectrum coordination for the 32 billion IoT devices expected to reach by 2030. This paper provides practical guidance for engineers and researchers to meet the challenges in high-interference environments.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3774505.3774513","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,10,30]],"date-time":"2025-10-30T22:19:07Z","timestamp":1761862747000},"page":"18-23","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["Wi-Fi 8: The Next Generation of Wireless Connectivity"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"29","author":[{"given":"Landon","family":"Cox","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Microsoft Research"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Fengxiao","family":"Tang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Central South University"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Ming","family":"Zhao","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Central South University"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Nei","family":"Kato","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Tohoku University"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,10,30]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.3390\/fi14100293"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/MCOMSTD.0001.2100082"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_3_1","unstructured":"Statista 2024. \"Internet of things (IoT) connected devices installed base worldwide from 2015 to 2033.\" https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1183457\/ iot-connected-devices-worldwide\/"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_4_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/MCOM.001.2300728"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_5_1","unstructured":"MediaTek. \"Wi-fi 8: Pioneering the future of connectivity.\" https:\/\/www. mediatek.com\/tektalk- blogs"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_6_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.11591\/ijece.v9i2.pp1131-1136"},{"key":"e_1_2_1_7_1","volume-title":"IEEE 2nd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics, Signal Processing, Communication (AESPC), 1-- 7.","author":"Rathor R.G.","unstructured":"R.G.
