Here, we present the systematic capture and public dissemination of over 640 km of SLI following the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake in Japan. Combining a survey of 30 participants, interviews with six stakeholders, and an analysis of SLI view metrics, we examine how different populations, including current residents, former residents, and remote observers, perceive its value and risks. While many participants valued SLI as a tool for connection, virtual inspection, and long-term archiving, concerns were raised regarding privacy, vulnerability, and potential burglary. We conceptualize these tensions through the lens of a boundary object, highlighting how disaster-related SLI is not simply a technical artifact, but an emergent sociotechnical infrastructure shaped by ongoing negotiation among contributors, platforms, and affected communities. Furthermore, we address ethical implications related to privacy protection, release timing, and sustainable archiving that can better support infrastructure among stakeholders and affected communities.
[[2026,5,20
["Infrastructuring Street-Level Imagery in Post-Disaster Contexts: Lessons from the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake CSCW021
["Meguro, Japan
The University of Tokyo
Meguro, Japan
["Meguro, Japan
The University of Tokyo
Meguro, Japan
["Meguro, Japan
The University of Tokyo
Meguro, Japan
[[2026,5,20
Luis F Alvarez Leon and Sterling Quinn. 2019.
