As a key enabling technology for Passive IoT, backscatter communication has been an active research area for over a decade and has achieved remarkable progress [2, 3, 4]. We have witnessed the feasibility of implementing backscatter communication using various ambient energy sources [5, 6, 7, 8], with the communication range continuously extending from a few meters to reliably transmitting data over distances of more than one kilometer [9].<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3793236.3793245","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2026,1,20]],"date-time":"2026-01-20T23:18:20Z","timestamp":1768951100000},"page":"25-30","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Backscatter Meets Audio: A Step Toward RF Computing"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"29","author":[{"given":"Yang","family":"Zou","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Tsinghua University, Beijing, China"}]},{"given":"Xin","family":"Na","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Tsinghua University, Beijing, China"}]},{"given":"Yimiao","family":"Sun","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Tsinghua University, Beijing, China"}]},{"given":"Yande","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Tsinghua University, Beijing, China"}]},{"given":"Yuan","family":"He","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Tsinghua University, Beijing, China"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2026,1,20]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_1_1","unstructured":"3GPP. 2025. 3GPP Radio Access Networks Work Group 1. https:\/\/www.3gpp.org\/3gpp-groups\/ radio-access-networks-ran\/ran-wg1."},{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_1","volume-title":"Smith","author":"Liu Vincent","year":"2013","unstructured":"Vincent Liu, Aaron Parks, Vamsi Talla, Shyamnath Gollakota, David Wetherall, and Joshua R.
